Safety guide
Stay safe, on and off the court.
We don’t run background checks, and nobody can promise how a stranger will behave. Here is what we do at every night, and what we suggest when you meet someone afterwards.
In danger right now? Call 911. Our inbox is not an emergency service.
At the night
- Tell the host if anything or anyone makes you uncomfortable. They will step in discreetly, and you decide whether you stay.
- You can sit out a round or leave at any time. You don’t owe anyone an explanation.
- No alcohol is served: snacks and non-alcoholic drinks only.
- A host glances at photo ID at the door to confirm first name and age, and checks your face against the photo you gave us. Nothing is copied from the ID or stored.
- Photos are taken only of people who say yes at check-in, and nothing you are recognisable in is published without asking you again.
Meeting someone afterwards
- Meet in a busy public place, and keep the first few meetings there.
- Arrange your own transport there and back, so you can leave whenever you want.
- Tell a friend where you’re going, who you’re meeting and when you expect to be home.
- Keep personal details private, like your home address, workplace and daily routes, until you’ve built trust.
- Never send or lend money, whatever the story. Report anyone who asks.
- Trust your instincts. If something feels off, leave; you can always reschedule or say no.

Report a concern
Three ways, whichever feels right:
- Tell the host at the night; they can act on the spot.
- After the night, press “Report a concern” on your dashboard. You can name the person by their roster reference, write what happened in your own words and say whether you want to be contacted.
- Email info@firstmoveclub.com at any time. A concern about a host goes to the same address; the founder reads it and replies in writing (once the club has a co-host, someone other than that host reads it).
A person acknowledges every report within 24 hours and handles it discreetly. We may remove someone from a night or stop them registering, and we never tell the person reported who raised it. If you would simply rather not cross paths with someone again, “Hide me from this person” on the roster removes each of you from the other’s list; nobody is told. Read the code of conduct for what we expect of everyone.
