Invite Only

The first date
is a sport.

Invite only. Everyone in the room has shown they're active. Your first date is an in-person activity, not a drink across a table. Meet like-minded people who make movement part of their lives. First Move Club brings people together through hosted sport nights, relaxed runs and time to connect.

How it works

An active start.
A real connection.

01

Show us you move

Share your activities and what you do to keep active, then back it up with one screenshot of your recent activity. We check consistency, not speed or size.

02

Get approved, then pick your night

Your host reads your activity history and approves members who fit the club. Members register for nights from their dashboard; rooms are balanced (eight women, eight men) and a place is held 72 hours while you pay. Full night? The waitlist moves when a place opens.

03

Play first, connect naturally

Coming alone is welcome: your host greets you and runs the rotations, so you play alongside everyone. Straight after the last game there's a short hosted closing round while the energy's still up. Afterwards you privately pick up to two people you'd like to see again, or no one.

The standard

A habit,
not a physique.

Pilates, hiking, lifting and easy runs all count. You can be consistent in one activity and completely new to another.

You share one screenshot of your recent activity with your request, which your host reviews privately and which is deleted after seven days. We don't score your body, rank performance or show your activity to other members.

How we handle your information →

What we look for

  • A regular active habit over the last two months, with room for life and breaks
  • One screenshot of your recent activity, from an app, a studio or a club
  • Dating preferences that fit the people in a particular group
  • Willingness to meet people, respect boundaries and try an appropriate activity

After the activity

Someone you'd like to see again?

The sport breaks the ice. What happens next is up to you.

After the event your host sends everyone a private link. Pick up to two people you'd like to see again, or no one, within 48 hours. When picks close, everyone who picked each other hears at the same moment, with the other's first name and email. If it isn't mutual, nobody ever knows you asked. Can't use the dashboard? Email info@firstmoveclub.com and we'll send you a fresh link.

A second run, a walk or a coffee all count. There is no rule about what your next date has to be.

Who reads your request

Your host

Every request is read by a real person, not an algorithm. Your host greets you at the door, runs the rotations and handles introductions. Coming alone is normal here.

Questions

Before you apply.

What does it cost?

There's no membership fee. Nights typically cost $40–60 CAD, and each night shows the exact price, what's included and the cancellation terms before you pay anything.

Is this a dating app?

No. Nothing to swipe. You apply once, a host approves you, you register for an in-person activity night, and afterwards you privately pick up to two people you'd like to see again. Only mutual picks are shared.

Do you vet members for safety?

We don't run background checks. We review each person's activity history, glance at photo ID at the door to confirm first name and age, check each face against the photo given with the request, and everyone agrees to the code of conduct and Terms. See our safety guide.

How do you check that I'm active?

When you request an invite, you share one screenshot of your recent activity (or add it later from your private link): from Strava, Apple Fitness or Garmin, a studio or class app, or a club. Your host reviews it privately and it's deleted after seven days. Other members never see it. We check consistency, not speed or size. A public Strava or Garmin profile link works too, and if neither suits you, you can talk to the host instead.

Do you connect to my Strava account?

No. We never connect to fitness accounts or ask for passwords, and you don't need Strava to join. One screenshot of your recent activity is enough: it's reviewed privately and deleted after seven days.

Who sees my photo?

Your host, who reviews your request with it and matches faces with it at the door. After a night, the people from that night you could be introduced to see it while picking and for 30 days after picks close, a mutual match included. Nobody else sees it, and it's never public.

What if I am new to the sport?

That's welcome. You tell us the activities you do when you request an invite, and your comfort level in each after you confirm your email. Your host uses that to plan the groups, and each night says if it needs any experience.

What does a night include?

The hosted activity and the venue time, any equipment the night lists, rotations so you meet everyone, and a closing round straight after with snacks and non-alcoholic drinks. Before you pay you see the date, the venue, the price, exactly what's included and the cancellation terms, and your place is held for 72 hours while you pay (less when the night is close).

What if a night is full?

Join the waitlist. We tell you the moment a place opens, and you have up to 24 hours to confirm it (less when the night is close — the email says exactly when). Places aren't transferable, so a cancellation always goes to the next person waiting.

What if I need to cancel?

Free cancellation until 48 hours before the start. Inside 48 hours, or if you don't show up, the fee is forfeited, registration pauses for 30 days and it counts as a strike. If you cancelled inside 48 hours and your place is refilled and paid before the night, the fee is refunded less a CAD $10 administration fee. Strikes expire 12 months after the night; 3 unexpired strikes end membership. It's how we keep rooms balanced: an empty place is someone who didn't get to come. If the club cancels a night, you're refunded in full and nothing counts against you.

Who can I meet?

Adults of all genders and orientations can apply. Your host balances each night by dating preferences, age range, relationship intent and comfort in the activity, so who you meet depends on who applies near you. Rooms are two balanced groups; if neither gender answer fits you, once approved you choose which group you play in. A request doesn't guarantee a place or a match.

Can I refer a friend?

Once you're a member, yes. Members can vouch for up to 3 people, and referred applications are reviewed first, within 24 hours. Your dashboard has a link to share; you'll see your friend's first name and whether they've been approved or are on the waiting list, nothing more. A referral is a recommendation, not a guarantee: everyone still shows they're active.

Why not just join a run club?

Run clubs are great. Here, everyone in the room is single and open to dating, a host handles the introductions, and there's a private way to say who you'd like to see again.

What if there isn't a place for me yet?

You're on our waiting list. Places are limited and every room is balanced, so we can't approve everyone straight away, and we won't put you in a room just to fill a place. If a place opens up for you, we'll contact you by email; there's nothing you need to do in the meantime. You can see your status, or delete your request at any time, from your private page.
